Boulter Stewart Ltd have been commissioned by Mr. Charles Skinner of Hotel Engineering Support Services (Asia) Ltd to undertake a survey of the structure of "The Merlin Pattaya" hotel, located at 429 Moo 9, Pattaya Beach Resort, Cholburi 20260, Thailand.

The main hotel building structure comprises a single storey basement, which houses general back of house facilities and plantrooms, a ground floor housing main public areas, kitchens, and the hotel executive offices, and 9 guestroom floors containing a total of 360 standard 3.9 metre wide room modules. The guestroom floors are Y-shaped in plan. The longest wing points west towards the sea and is a nominal 8 modules long, the remaining wings each being a nominal 7 modules long.

Main external features include a 500 seat seminar/function room building, a swimming pool with poolside bar, storage rooms and plant room, a small fitness room and a stage for poolside functions, and a restaurant area fronting on the beach road which is not presently in use.

The building was first opened 23 years ago. It was originally developed and operated for the first five years by the Holiday Inn Group under the name of The Sands Hotel, Pattaya
