Following postgraduate degree studies
in economics and accountancy David Stewart gained civil
engineering design and site experience with the British
contractors Shanks & McEwan, Mitchell Bros., Tarmac
and John Mowlem. In 1979, he moved to the Far East to join
the team supervising construction of Hong Kong’s Mass
Transit Railway projects. An appointment followed in 1984
as senior resident engineer, responsible for three city
centre “design and construct” underground projects
on the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit Railway. In 1987, after
the Singapore projects had been completed, David established
a project management firm in Bangkok. After four years of
steady growth, the firm entered a joint venture with a leading
European multinational company. David continued as managing
director of the JV firm. In recent years, David has also
undertaken consulting appointments in U.K., Denmark, Malaysia,
Vietnam, Taiwan and Singapore. He established our sister
company Stewart Engineers, in April 1997. David's professional
interests include contract management and dispute resolution.
